RISING KINDERGARTEN STUDENTS
Summer Reading and Math Adventures:
St. Paul’s Lower School teachers strongly encourage reading and math activities for all students this summer. We can’t stress enough the importance of promoting curiosity while keeping skills sharp over the summer months. Research has indicated that students who are engaged with reading and math activities over the summer come back to school ready to thrive and learn. This summer, your job is to choose your own adventure:
MUST DO | MAY DO |
1. Complete 1 reading bingo (5 spaces in a row) 2. Complete 1 math bingo (5 spaces in a row) 3. Complete 1 reading log
|
1. Complete additional reading and math bingos 2. Complete additional reading logs 3. Complete suggested summer workbook |
- Students should return their bingo cards and logs, that have been signed by an adult, to their homeroom teacher by Friday, September 2.
- For each completed bingo and log, students will be entered in a drawing for an Amazon gift card. Grade level winners will be announced at an assembly. The more bingos and logs completed, the more entries students will have in the drawing! Additional entries will be given to students who complete their recommended summer workbook. Students will earn an additional entry in the raffle for mailing a postcard to Mrs. Faint OR for taking a picture of themselves completing a bingo activity and emailing it to sfaint@stpaulsmd.org (limit 5).
- Summer Workbook Information: Visit www.summerskills.com to purchase the language arts AND the math workbook for the grade level your child recently completed. Please join St. Paul’s School by providing a reading and math adventure this summer!

Susan Faint

SPSG Upper School English Summer Work 2022
Each year, SPSG Upper School students are assigned summer reading for their English class. Families are responsible for purchasing summer reading books and students may read any print edition of the assigned book/s. Faculty will dedicate time to the discussion of the assigned summer reading in class, and thus books and written work should be completed before returning to school.

Summer Work Policy
While summer math work is not compulsory, it is highly recommended that students participate in some form of summer review before the next academic year. There will be an assessment during the first few weeks of school on the topics and skills covered in the summer review packet. Each review is titled for the course that the student will enter in 2022-2023 school year. Example: If a student is placed in algebra 1 next year, he should complete the algebra1 summer work.
Please contact Bryce DeBoer with questions.
