Endowment Giving

The establishment of endowment funds in honor or memory of a loved one creates a lasting legacy of support for a wide range of school priorities. Contributions to and investment proceeds from endowment funds provide a permanent source of income to support merit scholarships, tuition assistance, faculty excellence, and many other initiatives. Additionally, the endowment ensures the long-term sustainability of St. Paul’s and allows our schools to continuously enhance and evolve educational offerings and the student experience.

On Sept. 11, St. Paul's junior class left for West River, Maryland to take part in the Cameron D. Baird Junior Retreat, an annual off-campus trip centered around rest and reflection. As part of this beloved St. Paul's tradition, the class of 2026 spent three days reveling in the the beauty of Maryland’s eastern shore and participating in outdoor, team building activities. Supported by an endowment established by the Baird Family, the Cameron D. Baird Junior Retreat honors the legacy of Cam Baird, a cherished St. Paul’s teacher-coach who dedicated his career to making a positive and lasting impact on students.

Middle and upper school students prepared for the 2024-25 school year by decorating lockers, finding classrooms, getting their yearbook photo taken, meeting their advisory group, and hearing from the SGA during opening assembly. Established in honor of former Upper School Head Bette Kenzie upon her retirement, Kenzie Day is SPSG’s student orientation program and is made possible by the Kenzie Day Fund.

Faculty and Staff Recognized During SPSG Class Day Exercises

As the 2023–2024 school year drew to a close, several faculty and staff received awards and recognition, during Class Day. Four faculty received endowed faculty awards—the Linda L. King Award for Excellence in Teaching, The Parents’ Association Award for Excellence in Teaching, and the Virginia Spratley Award for Outstanding Student Mentoring—which are made possible by the generosity of donors.

 

St. Paul's Employees Honored During Closing Meeting

Faculty and staff of The St. Paul's Schools gathered in the Ward Center Theatre to celebrate the end of a successful academic year and honor colleagues with awards and recognition. Several endowed awards, including the Edward B. Freeman Award for Outstanding Service to St. Paul's and Edward B. Freeman Excellence in Teaching Awards, were presented to acknowledge the dedication of St. Paul's employees.

Upper School Dean of Students and History Teacher Kevin Benzing was presented the Spratley Award for Outstanding Student Mentoring by Jack Pellington '12. Established by the generosity of Virginia Spratley, grandparent of Jack Pellington '12, Virginia Pellington SPSG '14, and Peyton Pellington SPSG '17, this award recognizes a St. Paul’s teacher, coach, or staff member who has had a meaningful impact on the lives of our graduating students.
